Tolerance in an unequal world

Tolerance is a two-way street. Without compromising values, safety, or identity, majorities should tolerate the presence of minorities, and minorities should tolerate the fact of being a minority–even when it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient to do so. If we can do that, then tolerance can work and we can all get along.
