Child labor vs. child slavery

The two can be very similar or very different depending on the details.

Both details and consistent use of labels are (of course) missing from this article about Nestle being sued for buying cocoa from places where children are working. Was it deliberate obfuscation on the part of the reporter or editors? Could it be that a highly literate person–such as one who writes news articles for a living–has really never considered the differences between child labor and child slavery and whether the specifics need to be clearly spelled out in order to report a story accurately? These are journalists we’re talking about after all, so neither possibility can be ruled out.
